The price of the beef is $3.85/pound of the hanging weight of the animal. Final price is determined upon processing and you will be invoiced for that amount.

We use Herda's Meat Processing in Faribault, Minn., for our beef processing. Herda's will work with you to cut the beef to your specifications (e.g. package sizing for ground beef, weight and packaging for roasts/steak, requests for ribs or other cuts). You will pay Herda's directly for the processing costs when you pick up your meat.

If you are interested in a whole animal and would like to arrange your own butchering date at a different meat locker, we are happy to work with you to arrange that.

What do I get in a quarter of beef?

A quarter beef package typically is around 200 total pounds. This will leave around 105lbs of processed take home meat, featuring:

  • 20-25 pounds of steak (T-bone, rib eye, sirloin, round)
  • 50 pounds of ground beef
  • 30 pounds of hearty roasts

These numbers will vary depending on how you have the meat cut.

How much does a quarter of beef cost?

Exact costs vary by animal and processing selections, but the following example can be used as an estimate of total costs:

  • Sample Cost of Beef:
    • $4.00 x hanging weight of 200 pounds = 800
  • Sample Cost of Processing = $200
  • Approximate total cost of a quarter of beef = $1,000
